Craigie Knowe Vineyard Is Our Featured Business

Craigie Knowe Vineyard is located at 80 Glen Gala Road, Cranbrook. Nestled on a rocky hill, close to the swan river and only 16 kilometres north of Swansea on Tasmania’s picturesque East Coast, you will find this breathtaking little vineyard.

Craigie Knowe is a Scottish name meaning craggy knoll or rocky hill, which is where the house is built. The vineyard can seat 30 inside and weather permitting up to 60 outside in a very relaxed and down to earth atmosphere.

Craigie knowe have been providing vineyard platters, cheese boards and chocolate matching along-side their amazing wines for around two and a half years with an emphasis on quality Tasmanian produce.

Glenn and Sandy Travers, the owners of the vineyard, visited Tasmania and after stopping at Milton and Springvale vineyards, fell in love with Tasmania’s East Coast and Tasmania’s wine. They joked about owning a vineyard here one day. Not long after this they seen an ad for Craigie Knowe and its rustic cellar door and historical 1840’s farmhouse. It took a crazy chat with friends and a bottle of wine and they decided this was for them. Glenn and Sandy call the old farmhouse home and with their children Alex and Kate run and work the vineyard as a family.

When visiting Craigie Knowe, the oldest vineyard on the East Coast. You can try some delicious Tasmanian wine, chocolate and cheeses while listening to the passion the family has regarding how they produce the exceptional fruit used to make their wines. You can book a vineyard tour and get up close with vines and hear about the history of the place. Or just relax in the sun with a mouth-watering platter.
