Nougat Limar is one of the largest manufacturers of Nougat in Australia. Their French-style soft fine nougat is exported to over nine countries worldwide. Nougat Limar uses only the finest ingredients sourced throughout Australia to ensure its product is of the highest quality.
In 1985, owner Andrew Yiasemides was fascinated with fine confectionary. Inspired by his local chocolate store, 'Bon Bon Fine Chocolates', he began to practice making his own sweets at home. He chose a difficult place to start, deciding to create a soft French style of nougat. Over 12 months of trials and many slight recipe changes, what had begun as a hobby, had become a successful home business. Andrew was so happy with the taste and texture of his nougat that he took it to Bon Bon Fine Chocolates who began to stock the range.
The first batch of 'Nougat Limar' to grace the shelves of 'Bon Bon Fine Chocolates' in Sydney, sold out within just 4 hours. Growing demand for the small and exclusive batches of Nougat Limar encouraged Andrew to move his manufacturing to a small shop in Leichardt. Nougat Limar soon became very popular, with retailers and shops Australia-wide wanting to stock the delicious Nougat.
Nougat Limar is manufactured using the traditional European method of slowly combining a hot syrup blend with whipped egg whites. During this process, they add nuts, freshly roasted in house, along with berries, florals and fruits. The final step is they add a little of Nougat Limar’s signature vanilla essence, made exclusively for our product. (Like the colonel, it’s a secret recipe).
In November 2001, our nougat was vowed to be the best nougat in Australia by the well-known food critic for the Sydney Morning Herald, John Newton. Since then Nougat Limar has become a household name nationwide. Rapid growing demand for our product by loyal nougat lovers meant we needed to expand our manufacturing facility once more. In 2007 Nougat Limar relocated to a brand new, ultra-modern facility, covering over 2000m². The new manufacturing centre nestled here in West Gosford on the sunny Central Coast would soon become known as The Factory.
Nougat Limar prides itself on the fact that they still source all of their ingredients locally and support Aussie farmers where they can. This of course means that Nougat Limar is Australian Made and 100% Gluten Free. They also make some divine Gluten Free Marshmallows as well.
